David's hiding place from Saul, where four hundred men gathered to him.
First mentioned in the Bible
So David went from there, escaping to the cave of A·dulʹlam. When his brothers and his father’s entire house heard of it, they went down there to him. And all those who were in trouble and in debt and who had a grievance gathered to him, and he became their chief. There were about 400 men with him.— 1 Samuel 22:1-2
Background
The Cave of Adullam lies among limestone hills in the Judean lowlands. After David fled from Gath to escape Saul, he hid here. His family and everyone in distress, in debt, or discontented gathered to him — about four hundred men. David became their leader, and these men later formed the core of his mighty warriors. Adullam marks David's transformation from fugitive to commander.
