Ephesus

Ephesus · Ruins near Selçuk, Türkiye
Paul's base in Asia for nearly three years of ministry.
First mentioned in the Bible
This went on for two years, so that all those living in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.— Acts 19:10
Background
Ephesus, capital of the Roman province of Asia, was famed for the temple of Artemis (Diana), one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. On his third journey Paul labored here nearly three years; Jehovah God wrought special miracles by his hands and the gospel spread throughout Asia, provoking the great riot stirred up by Demetrius the silversmith. The Ephesian congregation heads the seven churches of Revelation.
