Where Paul saw the Macedonian vision — the gospel's gateway to Europe.
First mentioned in the Bible
And during the night a vision appeared to Paul—a Mac·e·doʹni·an man was standing there urging him and saying: “Step over into Mac·e·doʹni·a and help us.”— Acts 16:9
Background
Alexandria Troas was an important port on the eastern Aegean. On his second journey Paul saw a vision here in the night: a man of Macedonia stood pleading, "Come over into Macedonia, and help us" — and so the gospel crossed into Europe. Returning on his third journey, Paul preached here until midnight, and raised young Eutychus who had fallen from the third loft.
