Where Jesus spoke with a Samaritan woman about living water.
First mentioned in the Bible
“Whoever drinks the water I give him will never get thirsty at all, but the water I give him will become in him a spring of water bubbling up to impart everlasting life.”— John 4:14
Background
Jacob's Well is near the city of Shechem, an ancient well left by the patriarch Jacob, about 40 meters deep. Jesus passed through Samaria on his way from Judea to Galilee and sat by the well at noon. A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus asked her for a drink. He told her 'Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never get thirsty at all. The water I give him will become in him a spring of water bubbling up to impart everlasting life' (John 4:13-14). Jesus also revealed himself as the Messiah.
