Sodom

Sodom · Near the southern end of the Dead Sea
A city destroyed by Jehovah God with sulfur and fire because of its extreme wickedness.
First mentioned in the Bible
“Then Jehovah made it rain sulfur and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah from Jehovah, from the heavens. So he overthrew these cities, yes, the entire district.”— Genesis 19:24-25
Background
Sodom and Gomorrah were the most famous of the five cities on the Jordan Plain. Abraham pleaded with Jehovah for Sodom, but not even ten righteous people could be found. Jehovah rained sulfur and fire from heaven, completely destroying them (Genesis 19:24-25).
