Background
Bethlehem means "house of bread." It was the setting of Ruth and Boaz's story and the hometown of David. The prophet Micah foretold that the Messiah would come from this small town. Joseph and Mary came here for the census, Jesus was born in a manger, and angels announced the good tidings to shepherds in the fields.
