Background
Emmaus was about eleven kilometers from Jerusalem. On resurrection day, two disciples left in despair. Jesus walked with them, expounding the Scriptures concerning Christ. When he broke bread, their eyes were opened but he vanished. They said, 'Did not our heart burn within us while he opened to us the scriptures?'
