Where the Ark of the Covenant was kept for 20 years after its return from the Philistines, until David brought it to Jerusalem.
First mentioned in the Bible
"The men of Kiriath-jearim came and took up the ark of Jehovah and brought it to the house of Abinadab on the hill... The Ark remained in Kiriath-jearim for a long time—20 years."— 1 Samuel 7:1-2
Background
After the Ark returned from the Philistines, it first went to Beth-shemesh, where locals were struck for looking into it. It was then sent to Kiriath-jearim and placed in Abinadab's house, guarded by his son Eleazar, for about 20 years. David later brought it to Jerusalem, during which Uzzah was struck for touching the Ark.
