Gibeon

Gibeon · Al-Jib village, Palestine
Where Joshua commanded the sun and moon to stand still. Solomon asked for wisdom here.
First mentioned in the Bible
“So the sun stood still and the moon did not move until the nation could take vengeance on its enemies.”— Joshua 10:13
Background
The Gibeonites made a covenant with Joshua by trickery (Joshua 9). When five kings attacked Gibeon, Joshua rescued them; Jehovah hurled great hailstones, and Joshua commanded the sun and moon to stand still (Joshua 10:12-13). Centuries later, Solomon offered sacrifices at Gibeon and asked Jehovah God for wisdom (1 Kings 3:4-12).
Related Scriptures (New World Translation)
So the sun stood still and the moon did not move until the nation could take vengeance on its enemies. Is it not written in the book of Jaʹshar? The sun stood still in the middle of the sky and did not hasten to set for about a whole day.— Joshua 10:13
