Background
Mount Hermon, at 2,814 meters, is Israel's highest peak. Psalm 133 compares brothers dwelling together in unity to the dew of Hermon descending on Zion. Many scholars believe Hermon was the site of Jesus' transfiguration—Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where his face shone like the sun and his garments became white as light, and Moses and Elijah appeared (Matthew 17:1-3). A voice from heaven said 'This is my beloved Son; listen to him.'
