Background
En-dor was a small village at the northern foot of Mount Tabor. The night before the battle of Gilboa, King Saul was terrified of the Philistine army and inquired of Jehovah, but received no answer. Saul then violated his own ban on spiritism, disguised himself, and visited a spirit medium at En-dor, asking her to bring up Samuel. The figure of Samuel appeared and told Saul 'Tomorrow you and your sons will be with me' (1 Samuel 28:7-19).
