Where Elisha resurrected the Shunammite woman’s son.
First mentioned in the Bible
“Then he got up and walked about in the house, once this way and once that way, and went up and bent over him. The child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.”— 2 Kings 4:35
Background
Shunem was a prosperous agricultural town on the southern edge of the Jezreel Valley. Prophet Elisha frequently passed through, and a wealthy woman prepared a roof chamber for him (2 Kings 4:8-10). When her only son died suddenly, Elisha came and prayed, resurrecting the child (2 Kings 4:32-37). This is one of the most moving resurrection miracles in the Hebrew Scriptures.
