The deep valley between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives; Jesus crossed it on his last night.
First mentioned in the Bible
“After saying these things, Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley to where there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.”— John 18:1
Background
The Kidron Valley is a deep valley on the east side of Jerusalem, separating the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives. King David crossed it weeping and barefoot when fleeing Absalom's rebellion (2 Samuel 15:23). Several faithful kings of Judah burned idols here. Most importantly, after the Last Supper, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley with his disciples to go to the Garden of Gethsemane (John 18:1).
