Valley of Jehoshaphat
Where the prophet Joel foretold Jehovah God would judge the nations.
First mentioned in the Bible
“I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and I will enter into judgment with them there on behalf of my people and my inheritance Israel.”— Joel 3:2
Background
The Valley of Jehoshaphat is traditionally identified with the Kidron Valley east of Jerusalem. The prophet Joel foretold that Jehovah would judge the nations there: 'I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat and judge them there' (Joel 3:2). 'Jehoshaphat' means 'Jehovah judges.' The Kidron Valley is also where David crossed when fleeing Absalom, and where Jesus passed on his last night going to Gethsemane.
